Amsterdam
What makes Amsterdam attractive is as much its modernity as the atmosphere of being in a small city, safe and comfortable. It is an ideal city to get around on foot, by tram or bike. Admire famous works of art by artists such Rembrandt and Van Gogh in the many museums the city has to offer. Alternatively a visit to the red light district shouldn’t be missed although it is some what strange to see the queues of tourist lined up to see the girls in the shop windows ( remember, it is not allowed to take photos). Amsterdam is known as the city of antiques and the most original objects are to be found at the flea markets. There are many pedestrianised shopping streets where shopping is most convenient. The nine streets between the canals that surround the centre offer pleasant walks with interesting shops and eye-catching window displays. On Sundays, visit the modern art market (Thorbeckeplein near Rembrandt Square) where there often are open-air shows. The city’s markets with a wide array of products and colours are parties that are not without musicians and artists. Amsterdam’s nightlife offers great bars and restaurants, good music to listen to or for dancing, pubs, coffee shops and other interesting places to have a good time.
