Tourism and Health is nowadays a highly trendy and luring combination. The rapid, modern lifestyle does not leave people space for taking care of their minds and bodies. Overworking hours, stress and cities pollution are just some aspects of their daily routine. Therefore, it is not difficult to imagine the reason why many people dedicate their limited free time to relaxation and getting away from daily stress and fatigue. Nowadays, Spas and resorts, with their holistic therapies, offer different alternatives to compensate peopleīs hectic lives. Spa specialize in offering a healthy experience in exotic locations and include a wide range of rejuvenating treatments, such as, facial and body scrub, theravine facial, hand and foot maintenance, waxing, tinting, massages and  a wide variety of holistic treatments among others.


There are lots of spas all around the world, especially in five-star hotels that are very attractive for tourists. Some of the places that should be taken into consideration are the Arab baths in Spain; relaxing host springs in South Africa, Ayuverda, Yoga and Naturpathy in India and different kinds of massages in Thailand.
Since ancient times, people have known the benefits of water, as it has been a symbol of wellbeing, due to its regenerating and purifying properties. Water, as a healing element, has been present in the Spanish and South African history, as both places have rich springs with mineral and medicinal properties. 
In Spain, the Arabic baths, which date from the Roman period, demonstrate the refined hygienic habits of Spanish ancestors. These baths offer the pleasures of total relaxation in pleasant warm rooms. The baths were composed of three or four rooms. The first, which the Arabs called al-bayt al-maslaj, served as the vestibule, the second, called al-bayt al-barid, where bath users were given white towels, and the third and fourth called al-bayt al-wastani, which are warm steam rooms at different temperaturas.
Currently, in Spain, it can be found a great number of spas which include not only the Arab baths but also many other holistic therapies. Aromatherapy, mud therapy treatments, chromotherapy and the applications of sea weeds are just some of the treatments people can get in other to reduce stress.
South Africa also has lots of these “magical water” spots, health spas and resorts which offer the latest holistic health and beauty treatments. Spas in South Africa can be traditional as well as sophisticated, yet both blend together traditional healing customs, such as warm baths in milk and honey, with modern techniques.
Thailand and India all well known for their traditional massages: Thai massage and Ayuverdic massage. In order to strengthen de power of the massages, they have to be combined with healthy diet and healthy sports, such as yoga.
Ayuverda includes massage, herbal medicine, body work, psychology and spirituality. What is more, in Ayurveda therapies food plays a key role. The kind of food offered will strictly respond to the “Patientīs” needs. Ayuverda sets is emphasis on on the maintenance of positive health and to get it should be followed a strict daily routine. Ayuverda can be combined with yoga and naturopathy. Yoga inhibits the development of diseases by equilibrating mental, spiritual and body health. Naturopathy is a treatment which relies exclusively on natural remedies, such as sunlight, air, water, supplemented with diet and therapies such as massage. Naturopathy is based on the belief that the body is self-healing. The body will repair itself and recover from illness spontaneously if it is in a healthy environment.
Thailand also offers its unique way to rejuvenate body, mind and soul health. Currently, Thailand Spas and health tourism is growing rapidly. Thai Massage is the technique of manipulating the energy which travels throughout your body, which is done with the person clothed, without the use of oil. It’s good for tight muscles, low energy levels, and stress.  A kind of Thai massage is Pra Krop in which herbs are wrapped tightly in cloth, steamed, and the herbal bundles are then touched or pressed to your body, which is good for deep muscle aches and joint pain. There also is a wide range of foot treatments whichinclude washing and soaking your feet followed by an abrasive scrub, reflexology.
