A glowing year for the Colombian tourism.


2009 will be a bright year for the Colombian tourism, this will affect positively in the country’s economy and will change radically Colombia’s image in the world. In order to achieve this increase, the secretary of Tourism and Culture of the city of Cali is visiting many European countries. In his visits, the Secretary of Tourism and Culture affirms that Colombia has a lot to offer as regards its cultural, artistic and natural treasures. These statements will be demonstrated in the International Patrimony Congress. This Congress, which had been celebrated in Italy the last time, will be done in Cali next April. The congress will gather experts from European countries, such as Spain, and Latin American countries, such as Cuba and Chile among others. The Secretary of Tourism and Culture of Cali will take advantage of the opportunity to promote some important cultural aspects of the city such as afro-Colombian dances, “Salsa” and coffee.


Colombia confronts a favorable new reality as regards international tourism, because it has doubled the number of international visitors in the last few years. This can be seen in the wide increase of investments of new hotels, restaurants, bars and the like, and in the maximization of the institutional and juridical security. The gradual change of image of Colombia before the world, is one of the reasons why some important international events such as, “La Vitrina Turística de Anato 2009”, The International Patrimony Congress and the International Congress of Journalism among others, are celebrated in Colombia.
Colombia’s international success is evident in many important Fairs such as “Destination 2009” and “The World Tourism Organization”. “Destinations 2009”, which was celebrated in The United Kingdom last February, was of great importance for Colombia, as the British public applauded Colombia’s participation in the prestigious Travel and Tourism Fair, which gave shelter to more than 50 thousand people. The theme “Security” was emphasized in the Fair and it was firmly stated that “the only risk in Colombia is wishing to stay there forever”. “The World Tourism Organization” which was held in Madrid also gave an outstanding to Colombia and assured that it has grown widely in themes, such as security and infrastructure which have set the country in very high standards.
However, the growth in the tourist industry of Colombia is not only due to security and infrastructure improvements, but also to its great natural and cultural richness and the kindness of its people. As regards as culture, Colombia offers treasures that date from before the Spaniard colonization and innumerable archeological parks, which will surprise archeology and mystery lovers. As regards Nature, Colombia is wealthy and varied and offers from the high picks of Los Andes mountain range, to kilometric sand beaches that have excellent services for tourists. Finally, there are a wide range of people and idiosyncrasies, however, they have something in common their cheerfulness and sympathy.
Colombia has left aside its fame of drug-trafficker country and has become one of the most applauded countries in the world. Colombia’s richness and natural and cultural variety will attract all kinds of tourist of the entire world, who will feel very comfortable in the renewed infrastructure, accompanied by the lovely Colombian people.
